Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
First topic message reminder :
There I go!
Ok, as I explained in the jam thread I want to create something short and focused in the narrative but of course the graphics will be very important... you know
This week I have working in the story and finally I think I have something interesting but I want to polish it, Only I can say that it has to see with the overpopulation of the planet. Anyway I will publish it on Monday surely... be patient
Regarding the atmosphere and the style, I have searching some inspiration in games such Fallout, The last of us, Mad Max and Rage, where the world is devastated and a few people survive the hecatomb.
Here some images that I will use as reference:

The mechanics and other aspects of the project are still unclear but will surely be the same as my other creations, simple and easy, like a walking simulator.
And this is all for the moment, I just want to share my initial feelings about this short project, I hope you like it

Yep, the images are WIP so there are a lot of work to do... the lighting is not set yet (among other things), but thanks for your feedback!
Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
"Breathe, Relax, Create"... but here it's the complete opposite: "Hold your breath, Be scared and Die"!
Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
Hahaha, yes very mysterious and dark... bad times are coming.. the end of the world is near!

LOL, that is too funny Simon!
Images are looking great Juanjo, love the creepy, stuffy and lonely atmosphere

Thanks Josiah!
It really will not be so dark, I have not yet set up the lighting but I want the atmosphere to be a bit dark due to the theme.

Glad to read that!
On my screen it's a black picture, except for the logo and neon light.

Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
Yep, sorry for that Simon, the images are not very good.
Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
It's not the Images Juanjo (I can see Furniture etc.) I think it is the quality of Simon's Video Card and/or the screen he is using (plus he must be getting older by now?)
Hehehehehehee!!!!!!!!

Just because I forgot to remove my sunglasses during the past few years. The world is so dark!

And something in movement:

Pick up objects and examine.
PS: Sorry for the quality of the image, I don't control the catch program yet

Thanks guys!
I have not been able to do more, this weekend I have had a family visit and I have been very busy, I hope to continue this week... If my work allows me.

Don't worry Juanjo, I'm sure we all understand
A game jam of 25 days should be done peacefully when you have the time and motivation!
I personally find it more and more difficult to create something convincing in a limited amount of time and with a deadline. I think that it's good to pause projects when you decide it, and then continue with a very personal flow of work.
Anyway good luck, and I'll be looking forward to discover the demo!
What is the exact deadline of this jam? I'll probably go on (my real) holliday around August 25th (somewhere around this date).

Thanks Simon for your encouragement!
The deadline is August 20, there are 12 days left...

The more time the better
You guys always impress me with what you can do in much shorter times!

Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
Thanks Josiah! (I'm the king of jams, hahaha)
I almost finished the bunker level, I'm working in a prototype to see how works (maybe I will share with you).
This week I started to work in the exterior, here a small concept render in Unity:

Arid land for an uncertain future...
Of course, I have used old models with small retouches to accelerate the process.
I can't get the level of quality that I want but I hope to finish the whole game, even without the desired quality.

Hey! Michelangelo - Juanjo needs a bit more quality here? The atmosphere that you have created is phenomenal (as are the graphics!)

Re: Short project for Post-Apocalyptic Jam 2017
It's absolutely beautiful. Why do you want more quality? Games are not only about graphics, there's something in the worlds that you create that is indescriptible. Only a narration is missing to give birth to your projects. You have the talent, now tell stories
Can be done with very few and simple words: a lot is already expressed through your high quality visuals.

Sometimes I'm my worst critic
That reminds me of a quote I once heard. I don't remember it word for word or who quoted it but it's something along the lines of "A work of art is never truly finished in the eyes of the creator."
As artist we can truly nitpick it to death and work on it forever and never be fully satisfied lol.
But as the other guys said, Beautiful, beautiful work!!!
