The Icehouse 5 years Anniversary (2014 - 2019)

As you know the Icehouse is now 5 years old!
Thanks to all of you for all of your efforts and continuing support!
This year we are going to launch a series of small events that, we hope, will reveal our past and present works, please our fans and followers, and give you the opportunity to express yourself furthermore, etc.

Our First Event is:

A contest to create a new banner for the forums
People are invited to create something new to possibly replace the old one, and the winner will receive a prize.

The current banner and, if you are not already registered – the opportunity to register, can be found at https://theicehouse.forumactif.org/ or at the top of this page



New banner - rules:
• Size:  816 x 110 px
• Primary Colours: white background or white borders to be included with the rest of the forums background (which will remain white). Use also the greens and grey from the logo as main colours (but of course there can be more)
• Quality: The best quality that you can attain (Please)
• Specific content : Icy (Icy is The Icehouse mascot (as is his phrase – “Breathe Relax Create” – you can check out the smileys on the forums if you want to see more of him) although there is not an obligation to show him), Logo: http://www.theicehouse.fr/press.html - which has  to appear, and Text (the text "The Icehouse – Indie Artists Collective - Forums" should appear)
• Number of entries: 1 per entrant
• Dates: 31 May to June 9
• Submission: Must be via the forums (post to this topic) – Format .jpg or .png. As a consequence, you may have to use an external website (see this thread)  for posting images, and then use the resulting link on our forums with the [img] code to display it in the thread.

The Prize
The winning entrant will be given a key to Myha : Return to the Lost Island https://store.steampowered.com/app/890280/Myha_Return_to_the_Lost_Island/, and  the Administrators will then decide whether the  banner appears on the forums, or not, if in the end they consider that it doesn't fully represent The Icehouse and its principles.

If anyone has any questions, please either ask within this topic or PM Roger (RogerCAKT), Simon (Simon_Icehouse), or Juanjo(Juanjo_LS).

Voted! Man, that was hard! I like them all!

I think Roger might be on to something here... let the votes of the contest decide a winner of the Myha reward but since all participants did such a great job the banner can be rotated every 2 months during this 5 year celebration to show everyone's creativity!

Another suggestion on how to choose what order to display whose banner is shown every 2 months simply use the overall winner as the first one. Then put the rest in a hat and draw them to see which order to display the other 5. Just an idea!

I'll think about it, it's a good idea.

But.... Who's gonna change the banners every 2 months if it has to be done manually? We must think about it.

I've been reading your comments about banner rotation and I think it might be a good idea but in my opinion the winning banner should be the first to be placed and maybe the one that should be there the longest, after all that's why it has won!

On the other hand, I guess changing it manually isn't that complicated (Simon?), we just have to put a reminder in the calendar to make the changes.

I also wanted to thank you all for your participation, it was incredible... although we would have liked to have more people because one of the objectives of this contest was to attract people from outside the collective... even so, thank you very much to everyone!

Oh wow! Thanks a lot everyone! means a lot coming from all of you.

I look forward to the next challenge, hopefully it won't be making a game haha. But yeah, I agree with Juanjo, next challenge we should try to promote outside the group a bit more.

Maybe we can make a flyer with the reward and a quick description of what the challenge is. I'm sure more people will get involved if there is a visual being spread around online.

Hey everyone,

The Icehouse Jam will more likely be in November, we want to prepare it properly and make announcements to gather people to participate.

In the meantime we would like to make another event in September to replace the Jam. Any ideas?
We have done the banner contest, a lottery, what now?
There was a music contest where we wanted to promote the work of Yaz and Python Blue, but we don't know what kind of contest it could be.

I got an idea. What about a picture (2D or 3D, collage, photo) of the "gaming room/bedroom" of your dream that you imagine for yourself?
And then everyone can vote for his favorite.

EDIT : I'm realizing now that the next one shouldn't be a graphics related challenge. So it's probably not appropriate.

Actually yes, it CAN be a graphics events This is a good idea, thanks Ormusto! We will keep this in mind with Juanjo and Roger when we will decide of the event.
