[AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
First topic message reminder :
Well, this time I move away from horror and darkness and I would like to create a very short adventure game (1st person) focused in exploration of the environment with an original story and simple but logical puzzles. Beautiful environments and without fear of dying!
The original soundtrack is being composed by Python Blue (many thanks!).
Game Jolt page:
https://gamejolt.com/games/Numen/418894
TITLE:
NUMEN
The Path of the Gods
STORY
The gods have always helped the Curugan people when they needed them. Diseases, famine, natural catastrophes... But for years, the gods have not appeared and the Curugan people are dying little by little due to a strange disease. The situation is desperate so the council of ancients decides to send someone in search of the gods to ask for their help. The chosen one is Noah, the young disciple of the shaman of the town. Although he is young and inexperienced, he is strong, intelligent and the only one, after the shaman, who has enough knowledge to succeed in such a task.
Noah marches to the land of the gods, where only the shamans have been. After months of travel, he finally arrives at the entrance to the land of the gods. He knows that his people don't have much time left, so he goes into the place in the hope of finding the gods.
MAIN FEATURES:
- First-person exploration adventure game
- Beautiful and detailed graphics (3D in real time)
- Original and interesting story
- Simple but logical puzzles
- Inspired in games like Myst
- Explore freely without fear of dying
- Original soundtrack composed by Python Blue
INSPIRATION:
Mainly the Myst saga, but also other games like Quern, The Eyes of Ara, the Rhem saga or the Schizm games.
I'm going to use my usual tools: Unity, 3ds Max, Quixel Suite, Photoshop and old assets... and my magic!
As always, the idea is clear but this is a jam and I never know how it will end, that's the fun!
I will publish the progress.

What! So you have almost finished??? Impressive!
Congrats Juanjo for making it in time!

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Thanks Simon!
It is not finished yet, today I hope to finish everything and between today and tomorrow upload it to the Game Jolt page.
I have managed to finish on time because I have removed many things... it doesn't look very much like what I had in mind when the jam started, but one of the challenges for me of these events is knowing how to adapt and I think I'm learning to do it!
On the other hand, as always, I'm not happy 100% with the result... you know I'm my worst critic, and I would have liked to do things differently but a jam is like that. Glad to have finished on time.

Good work on your Jam Juanjo, its too short to make something consistant and polish
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Good to hear that you are almost done Juanjo!
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Thanks John!
Ok, tonight I wanted to publish the game, but due to problems creating the final files (it's not serious) I have to postpone it to tomorrow.
Meanwhile you can already hear on the game page the wonderful music created by Python Blue!

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Aaaaand after 14 days of hard work, sleepless nights and some last-minute problems... NUMEN - The Path of The Gods  is finished and ready to download!
https://gamejolt.com/games/Numen/418894
I'm happy with my work, but as I said the result is not what I had in mind when the jam began, but you must adapt and work hard to finish on time, this is a jam!
I want to thank all those who have supported me with your comments here, on Game Jolt and on social networks, I appreciate it very much, you are all awesome!
And thanks especially to Python Blue for his work with music, as always impressive.
You will probably find bugs and problems when you play, be benevolent, I have given my best but in a jam there is no time to do it 100% perfect.
Hope you have fun!
And good luck to Simon and Yves, you can do it!

Oh wow! I just played through it and I must say... The jam masters have done it again!!! Absolutely beautiful, the graphics along with Python Blue's hypnotic atmospheric music is amazing. I feel like I just took a spiritual journey to Shangri-La! But that ending though...
now you have no choice but to continue the project!

Hahaha, thank you Josiah!
The music of Python Blue is amazing, it creates the perfect atmosphere!
For the moment I want to rest... but I will think about what to do with the project, who knows if it has good reception, it may become in something more complex...

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Finally I played NUMEN, Juanjo!
Like most of your Jam games, it was stunningly beautiful. The music of Chris was perfect and set the ambiance well. The map was quite large, and there were more actions to do than usual in order to solve the puzzle. I particularly liked your idea of a lock on the small chest.
The gameplay was quite intuitive. I'm often a bit scared when there are too many keys to press (E, ZQSD, A, etc), but here it was not too bothering. Well done
It's a real shame that it is too short, as always (I wish someday you could continue one of your projects and make a full game with it), but if you could add just 1 or 2 additional puzzles next time, or more in-game story/narration, it would be PERFECT.
Of course it is not a criticism: I know very well that during a Game Jam it is almost impossible to do more. What you have achieved here is nice. I'm just sharing my hopes about the fact that I'd love to see more of your games, not just 1 or 2 rooms and an abrupt end. Maybe Delusion?
And the end! "To be continued...?" Yes please!! The end was very surprising and interesting, I'd like to know more and play what's after the closed door. Looks like I am not welcome there, according to the sound of the alarm ahah
Anyway globally, good job. Congrats to you and Python Blue. Please remain motivated and continue to work on beautiful games. Maybe the Icehouse can help more next time? (just a suggestion to the members who didn't participate

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Yeah I confirm, it's really well done, graphics are very nice...lots of good looking details to look at with modern lightning and all. I didn't finish it because I don't find out the key ahah I am so bad at searching things (I need tips
I am sure you could meet a real success if you achieved a full game like this. But you deserve to sleep a little right now

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Thanks Simon for your detailed feedback, I'm glad you like it and you have not found any bug, hehehe.
I agree with you in everything you say about the game, there should be more interactivity, more narrative... more story, but I couldn't do more.
Yves, thanks for your words, it means a lot coming from you. And yes, it would be nice to get a complete game from this "prototype"... who knows.

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Juanjo, isn't it possible to use all the scenes/games you created during past Jam in order to create a big one? You have made so much fantastic work. I doubt that there is no way to gather all in one. Even if the graphics were different, and even if you evolved technically and artistically speaking, all of your works were beautiful and I think you should really try something.
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Hahaha, thanks Simon, maybe I should have participated in the Fragment Jam.
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Lol yes maybe. But on the other hand I was serious, you could do a complete/commercial game with all your scenes more easily than starting from scratch. Well, as you want

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Hmmm, this is a great idea Simon!
Juanjo, I recall at least 3 or 4 of your jam games ending at a door. You could link them all together and add a scifi twist to it.

I could create a kind of museum of my jam entries.... with pictures representing each game, if you click on a picture you teleport yourself to that game... interesting.
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Nice! That would be a great representation of your work!

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Mmmh I don't know... I was thinking more of making a real game: take all the scenes, and for once focus on the content (gameplay, puzzles...) rather than the graphics.
Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Yes Simon, I also thought about improving each game by adding what I didn't have time to do during the jams... but that's a lot of work.
In any case, I like the idea and I take note.

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
Well guys, the voting is over and although the position of NUMEN has not been very good (#23), I got the 6th place in the category "Atmosphere", I'm sure thanks mostly to the music of Python Blue!

Thank you all for your support and for your comments, you are fantastic!

Well, congrats for the 6th rank in Atmosphere. We could have done better if the votes were not only the participants.

Thanks!
Yeah, it could be better but that's the rules...

Re: [AdvJam2019] [Juanjo - Python Blue] NUMEN: The Path of the Gods
I admit having troubles with the categories for which people voted. Where is the category to reward the visuals, the sound aspect, or even the quality of the scenario? I do not doubt that in these categories, TheIcehouse games would have won the best ! In the end, the important thing is that the general note that is not bad in itself in spite of everything. Last year, "The Sacred Orb" was 27/56: there is still a breakthrough this year. Similarly for "Romanesco" which is part of the first 20. All three games submitted here are above average games proposed: in my opinion, it is the proof that the quality of your ceartions is recognized! Top !
