Adventure Jam 2019
First topic message reminder :
Hi there!
Yes, Adventure Jam 2019 is around the corner!

For the fifth year in a row, anyone with a computer, an idea, and an internet connection is invited to create an adventure game over the course of 14 days (the jam runs from June 8 until June 22)!
For more info visit the official website in Game Jolt:
http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2019
Of course I'm going to participate... this is one of my favorite jams.
This time I hope that many of you can participate, maybe we can create a Icehouse collaborative entry? It could be fun!
PS: I'm going to die... I just have a week to rest from Cyberpunk jam xDD

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Good luck Yaz on Fragment Jam! I can't wait to see your beautiful creations!
Now I'm starting to work on Adventure Jam!
I still have not decided the story (not sure about the monsters/scifi movie that the kids go see and if they arrive in the real world, etc, as I explained before). But I have no doubt that it will take place in the world of Mon Village est Magique. So for the moment I'm going to work on the 3d modeling of the characters. This is very difficult for me, I'm not good at all at creating characters. This will be a good challenge for this jam, and even more because there will be several different characters in my game to talk to (so that's plenty of work for me ahah!). I hope I can succeed. I'll show you the result as soon as I have decided the story (I will open a thread later, dedicated to the game progress, where i'll share WIP pictures and more details about my project).
Good luck to all participants!

Good luck! Can't wait to see the result.
Simon try to keep things simple when it comes to characters. Think about the playmobil for example. Very simple shapes, maximum effect!

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
I have still not decided the story....
I have started to modelize in 3D Seb and Tommy. I'll open a devlog soon to show my progress.
Yves is already working on something, yes
But it's still a secret, I don't know what he's doing!
Similia sent me an email, they unfortunately don't have the time. They are very busy but they say hello to everyone. Honestly I hope that they can work on Anamedia and finish it someday, this is a beautiful project, I prefer that they save their time and motivation for it!

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Great to hear that Similia are still going - we hear so little from them. I agree that what they are doing is beautiful, and, I too hope that it gets finished.
And Good Luck to everyone!

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Thanks Roger!
I have opened a devlog: https://gamejolt.com/games/mvem_aj2019/418477
I'll post there some of my WIP pictures.
I will also open a thread on the forums as soon as I know more about the story of my game. I have not decided yet.

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Hey Simon, the models are really cool, great job!
I have not been able to advance much, I have been configuring my project in Unity, I have been looking for visual references for the atmosphere, lighting, color palette... and I have started with the blockout, so I have not progressed much or at least nothing that I can show yet.

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
I have no doubt that soon you will make great progress and that we will discover amazing pictures

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Thanks John for your support!
Ok, I'm thinking about the title of my entry for Adventure Jam and I think I have it:
DIVINITY
The path of the gods
But I have doubts because it's very similiar to the title of the game Divinity: Original Sin, and I'm afraid of people getting confused or even copyright problems (this last one I don't think so, but...), what do you think, should I keep it?

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Only Roger can help you!
I would suggest... THE DIVINE: Path of the gods.
But I have no idea of the exact meaning in English!

How about Mythos: The way of the gods
Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Well, soon I will create the thread of the game with the story and you will understand the title better, so it will be easier.
The truth is that I love the title DIVINITY, my concern is the similarity with the other game that is quite well known...
Thanks for giving me ideas!

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
The other game is too famous in my opinion.
I wouldn't call a game Age of Empires or Cyberpunk, and it's the same for Divinity.

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
I think so too. Divinity is a huge game series. The best way to avoid troubles is to find another name, or change the order of the title words , like "Godness : the path of divinities" ^_^
Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Finally, Adventure Jam is finished!!! Congrats again to all participants! I'm very happy of this year's participation of the collective. We have submitted 3 beautiful games, involving 5 members. See list below.
The Jam is finished so the votes are starting! We have 8 days to vote for the games.
The full list of games is here:
http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2019/games
Please have a look and try the ones you prefer, and click on them in the list to vote.
It is very important that people vote! The Judges will have a look at the 10 best games from the votes. If our games are not in the top 10, they will remain invisible and it's other games that will receive the laurels. There are many other games that look nice, so we will need the help of everyone
Thanks in advance for your votes!
To summarize the creation of The Icehouse members during Adventure Jam 2019:
- Juanjo + Python Blue = NUMEN Path of the Gods
http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2019/games/Numen/418894
- Yves = Romanesco
http://jams.gamejolt.io/advjam2019/games/AdvJam2019/421374
- Simon + Yazorius = MVEM: The Whale of the Infinite Ocean

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Thank you Simon for the summary, but as we already know, only participants can vote... I'm totally disagree.
Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Yes me too I'm not very happy with this rule...
By the way Juanjo have you played Killer Frequency?
My favorite games in this Jam 2019 are (in total disorder):
- Romanesco
- NUMEN
- An Eternity, Reflecting
- Tea for Two
- Killer Frequency
There are others that look good but I didn't like them as much.

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
I haven't had time to play much, this weekend I've been a little disconnected (family celebrations), so this week I hope to play most of them.
Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Well, I've been able to play (and vote) several games of the jam and I see real gems. These are my favorites so far:
- Romanesco
- MVEM-TWOTIO
- The Darkest Tree
- Escape from DIMANSION
- Tea for Two
- Killer Frequency
But I still have to play many more...
By the way, Simon, MVEM-TWOTIO has 11 votes... I think it's one of the most voted so far!

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
But maybe they are negative votes?
(comments are good however so far)
Well at least I wish I could be in the top 10.
5 days left!
I agree with your list of games!
I also recomment An Eternity, Reflecting.
Next I'm trying The Missing Daugher, and Brexit Man... And I think I'll stop. I don't want to try the remaining games.

Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Yeah, I'm not going to try them all either, only the ones that call my attention, I have 3 or 4 left to play (An Eternity, Reflecting between them) and I'll stop too.
Re: Adventure Jam 2019
Brexit Man is far from beautiful artistically speaking, but it's really fun and well done, with a great voice acting. Roger and English-speaking people should definetely give it a try
The Missing Daughter too is nice, very ambitious with quite a good system of cards to help us investigate. Quite unique!
Finally I am quite happy of this Adventure Jam 2019, there were several interesting projects. It would seem that my previous disapointment was mainly due to my personal situation, and also to a side effect of the Jam tireness.
